![]() ![]() Starting to see a pattern? And the best part: Our son missed boarding due to a minor medical problem and couldn't get on the ship until 4 days later ( missing almost 40% of cruise) because the first day was at sea and at the first two ports they wouldn't allow boarding because they had to tender passengers to the islands - like BFD- how about accommodating "customers." And they had to arrange their own transportation with no help fro NCL all they got was misinformation, which is another story. ( mind you the flights they had booked for us were with different carriers for the going and coming) And when we tried to upgrade our seats for the flight home, there were no upgrades available since the flights were full and, oh gosh, we tried to do that less than 40 days before we left. And then out of a total round tip cost of almost $2000 they refunded us $352 for booking our own flight to Rome. We were able to get a Delta flight (1 layover) there 2 days early like our kids but at a one-way cost that was almost double what they charged us for the 2 for 1 special - if it sounds to be too good to be true, it probably is. Well our kids flights got them there on time (2 layovers) but ours did not arrive until 3 hours before end of boarding time two days later and when we complained they basically said tough sh. We all planned to get to Rome two days early and had booked rooms ourselves at a small hotel. We were traveling as a family and had 3 cabins for ourselves and our adult children families. They don't tell you your flights until 90 days before the start of the cruise what they don't tell you (us) is that they have until 40 days prior to give you that info. And if you found a beer that you liked they managed to run out of it days before the end of the cruise. my single malt scotch was good, but my wife could never find a decent glass of wine - red or white - that was even close to dry. We bought the liquor package which included everything on the menu under $15 per drink. To say it tasted like shoe leather would have been a compliment. The ship can accommodate up to 3900 paying customers, but the kitchens are built to feed much less as the food tasted like it had been prepared hours before we sat down to eat and been kept on a warming tray. The rest of the food was not even mediocre it was horrible. The only good meal was at a speciality restaurant guess they try to steer you there to pay extra after paying over $7000 for two. I will say the staff was excellent as usual, but that is where the compliments end. hadn't done a cruise in a number of years my what a difference.
